We encourage the Cartoon Art Museum community to submit drawings of characters inhabiting our spaces. The illustrator of each image will be credited on our Credits page.
To submit a design, we strongly recommend that you contact us with ideas or concepts before fully developing your drawing. The final deliverable can be a digital file, with your character drawn into one of the full-size JPEG images linked to the thumbnails below. Note that all the vertical images are used on our subpages, while the horizontal image is for use on our homepage.
Important Guidelines
- Draw your characters as if they are inhabiting the space: admiring or considering the framed art on the walls, opening a door, peeking around a corner, etc.
- You must own the copyright to the character you draw, unless the character’s copyright has expired, and it is in the public domain.
- Be original and creative with your drawing, reflecting the spirit of this unique medium!
Animated GIFs or Flash are rarely accepted, but we may consider them with the following constraints:
-
- The animation must add value to the graphic.
- Animations may run a few times and then stop. They may not loop indefinitely.
- Please provide a static image as an alternative to the animation.
- Please do not use logos or headline text in the graphic.
As a contributor, you may supply an illustrator’s credit, including the contributor’s name, e-mail, URL and a 1-2 line bio, all optional.
The final choice of character images involves an editorial decision by the CAM website team. Unfortunately, we cannot accept every submission.
