Trustees

The Cartoon Art Museum board plays a very active role in the operation of the museum. Members offer their professional experience in support of the nonprofit community and the talented individuals responsible for creating great art. Current Board of Trustees members include:

Anita Coulter-Pidgeon (Board Member) is a puppeteer of many years. She is a co-founder of Swazzle, a LA based puppet company. She has previously served on the board of directors for the San Francisco Bay Area Puppeteers Guild (SFBAPG). Her other interests are nagging her talented husband to produce more artwork, and spoiling her cats.
Ron Evans (Board Chair) is a senior editor at VIA magazine. His articles have also appeared in The San Jose Mercury News and The Oakland Tribune.
Dr. Michael B. Johnson (Board Member) runs the Moving Pictures Group in Pixar’s Research & Development Group. He also serves on the advisory board at the Pacific Film Archive.
Summerlea Kashar (Executive Director) oversees and manages the direction of the museum and its staff and maintains its community relationships. She has been with the museum since 1998. She holds a masters degree in arts management from City University, London.
Mike Todasco (Board Member) is the General Manager and Founder of Sketch Maven, an online marketplace for original comic artwork.  He has an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley, Haas School of Business and a BS from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign.
Anthony Yun (Board Secretary) is a product manager at Adobe Systems Incorporated. He is a lifelong fan of cartoons, comics, and animation and is an avid supporter of cartooning as an art form.
Peter Westley (Board Vice Chair, Treasurer) is an investment banker who also runs mediatechzone.com, a website focused on the impact of technology on media and marketing. He has had a lifelong interest in all forms of cartoon art, enjoys creating his own pen-and-ink artwork, and is proud to have been associated with the museum since 2000.
Roy Zemlicka (Board Member) is Corporate Counsel at Bigpoint, Inc. a browser-based video game company, he received his J.D. from Santa Clara University, School of Law and BA from UC Santa Cruz. He also volunteers time to Prism Comics.
Malcolm Whyte (Founder/Chair Emeritus) began CAM in 1984 and retired from board in 2008 as Chairman Emeritus. He is President of Word Play Publications and serves on the Board of Directors of the Book Club of California. Over the past 40 years he has produced nearly 200 books, 45 of which he authored — educational children’s activity books, cookbooks, and art books (including The Underground Comix Family Album and Goreyography). For CAM he wrote and produced exhibition catalogs on the art of Walt Kelly, Charles Schulz, Edward Gorey, and Charles, Robert, and Maxon Crumb. (image detail: Jim Hummel)
