Development Intern
Description:
The intern works closely with the museum Director and/or Director of Development. The intern is exposed to all areas of development, with a particular emphasis on grant research, cultivation event planning, and membership. The intern assists in the research, development, writing, reporting and submission of grant proposals. The intern should depart with an expanded professional portfolio and with greater understanding of the organizational importance of development to the museum institution as a whole. Project ownership and facilitation are encouraged.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting in writing proposals, letters of inquiry, and other communication with funders
- Collection and submission of data for grant reports
- General development-related tasks such as data entry and file organization
- Providing concrete support in the production of grant proposals, fund solicitation, and organizational structuring.
- Researching new grant and fundraiser possibilities
- Planning cultivation events
- Managing incoming memberships
Requirements:
- Experience with databases (FileMaker preferred)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Reliability
- Excellent organizational and research skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work during regular weekday business hours
- Commitment of at least 8 to 20 hours a week for a minimum of three months.
