Public Programs Intern

Description:
The Public Programs Intern assists in the development, implementation, and management of dynamic programs for a diverse audience through various interpretative approaches to the museum’s collection and exhibitions. The intern works closely with the education director and the curator to develop programs. The intern primarily focuses on programming linked to the upcoming exhibitions for the current season and the following two seasons.

Responsibilities:

  • Write texts for programs as needed
  • Assist in developing family guides, tours, lectures, and workshops for upcoming exhibitions
  • Assist in creating evaluation tools for temporary and permanent exhibitions
  • Research possibilities for the future growth of the education department

Requirements:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Independent thinking and problem solving, while being a hands-on team player
  • Research skills
  • Knowledge of FileMaker and Microsoft Office helpful
  • Commitment of at least 20 hours a week for a minimum of three months.
  • Museum Studies student preferred
