In-Kind Donations

For any donation of stock, art, books, or other gifts-in-kind to the Cartoon Art Museum, the fair-market value is tax-deductible. We provide a letter stating what the gift was and when it was received by the museum. The donor should keep this letter as a receipt of the gift in case they are asked to produce it by the IRS. We do not appraise value. (See Art Donation Guidelines for details.)

Stock Gifts

Transfer stock that has appreciated for more than 12 months to the Cartoon Art Museum. You won’t have to pay taxes on the capital gains and you can deduct the total market value from your income tax.

Art Donations

The Cartoon Art Museum was founded in 1984 by a group of collectors and enthusiasts who each contributed artwork to start the museum. Relying totally on donations, the museum has expanded its collection to over 5000 pieces of original art and cartoon collectibles. By donating original art to the our permanent collection, you can rest assured that it will be properly cared for and preserved. Also, it will be available for exhibition and scholarly research. Library Donations

Contribute to an educational resource! We add donated books, magazines, and reference material to the Cartoon Art Museum’s Research Library and Archive. A wide variety of people, from middle school students to university professors, frequent our research library. Click here to view Research Library Policy and Donation Guidelines.

Gifts-in-Kind

We gladly accept items or services that we can use in the office, for events, or in our bookstore. Here are some examples of items we need:

For the office:

  • Office supplies, equipment, and recently released computer hardware & software.
  • Printing services for brochures, postcards, and other projects.

For events:

  • Event planning services
  • Entertainment services
  • Food and beverages

For the bookstore:

  • New cartoon-related books and merchandise
